Vabriga is a little municipality located on a plateau with the town Poreč on the south and the beautiful river Mirna on its northern side. Beside tourism, winemaking and olive growing have expanded rapidly, so even the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization declared the olive oil from Larun plantation as the best in Europe.
THINGS TO DO NEARBY
First of all, you should get to know the place where you’re staying. Due to its elevated position, you can clearly see the Alps from the village Vabriga, and if you decide to climb the bell tower in nearby Tar on a sunny, clear day, you will be able to contemplate the view on St. Mark’s bell tower in Venice. The valley of river Mirna is located in the northern part of this region. Be sure to take a walk through the valley and the nearby forest. Mostly known as the richest truffle region in Europe, many will not tell you this forest is the home to the giants who, according to a local myth, had built the towns on nearby hilltops.
